Today, we wanted to take a moment to reflect and extend a huge thank you to all of our customers who continue to support music, and specifically banjo music, during this time.
We can all agree that it has certainly been a chaotic few months. For many of us, Covid-19 has changed life as we know it, and life at Deering is no exception; our sales and marketing teams are all working from home, while on the production floor, we have made significant changes to how we operate, in order to keep our team safe and the company operating. And we have been able to, thanks to our customers and our incredible employees.
During this time, I have had the pleasure of speaking with a great deal of our customers personally, and it is clear that so many of you have turned to banjo to help through this time. And as I wrote earlier this year, music is so important right now.
A lot of you are first time players who find yourselves at home, with more time. Many of you are parents of first time players, introducing banjo and music to your children who are suddenly home bound and in need of learning and stimulation. On behalf of everyone at Deering, welcome to the start of your banjo journey and we thank you for choosing our banjos.
Others among you are existing players, maybe taking the newfound time at home to dust off an old Goodtime, or Sierra and get her in tip top shape to start practicing again. I hope you have been able to make use of all the parts and accessories, as well as playing and maintenance resources.
If you need help, just let us know!
I say this, for no other reason than to say thank you. For a moment back in March, when California began its Stay at Home order, we didn't know what the weeks that followed would look like. It was scary. For us, and for the livelihoods of our team. We are so happy, that even in a sea of changes, we are able to come to work and continue helping you.
As for our team, we are the strongest we have ever been.
Just yesterday afternoon, I was walking across the Deering parking lot to go into the office to host this weeks episode of Deering Live. As I was walking in, three of my production colleagues were leaving for the day. "Fancy seeing you here!" they said. "I know!", I responded. "I need to go and see if my desk is still there!". We chatted for a few moments, and joked together before going about our separate ways.
And while technology has made this process of being apart much easier, it made me realize how much I have missed that camaraderie. I have missed walking through the shop and seeing the guys work their craft to produce some of the finest musical instruments on the planet.
Who knows what the next few months will bring, but I for one can not wait to get back to some kind of "normal".
One thing we can be sure of is that life will be easier, all the time we include music. So, from the bottom of our banjo-shaped hearts, thank you. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your business. And thank you for believing in Deering.
