"Don't you feel like everything is going to be alright?!" Steve Martin and Alison Brown dish on their new single "Wall Guitar," and open up about how they got started playing banjo. The duo bonds with Kelly over their love of the instrument, and demonstrate the special soothing effect the banjo has with an impromptu performance. Both Steve and Alison are such great ambassadors of the banjo we are proud to have them both as Deering Banjo Artists.
Steve Martin and Alison Brown perform their new single "Wall Guitar," with Vince Gill – lead vocal, Stuart Duncan – fiddle, Rob Burger – piano, accordion, Andrea Zonn – background vocals, Garry West – bass, and Jordan Perlson – drums and percussion.
Steve is playing his Vega Long Neck banjo and Alison is playing her Deering Julia Belle banjo.
What began as a gentle clawhammer banjo melody evolved into a wistful song about unrequited love, shimmering with melodicism and poetic lyrics.
The song took shape organically, with Brown building on Martin’s melodic idea. With his warm, tenor voice and deep roots in acoustic music, Vince Gill was the obvious vocal pick for the song. Martin, Brown, and Gill have long histories with each other and all of them have recorded together on previous projects. He brought the perfect mix of reflection and emotional range to the song.
