“The definition of bluegrass is change” is a direct quote from one of the over 70 musicians who shared their love of music and bluegrass in the documentary called The Porchlight Sessions. With the passing of Earl Scruggs we have learned this is a sentiment he whole heartedly shared and was the vision behind his style of banjo playing.
The film is a passionate tribute to the folks past and present who dedicate themselves to bluegrass, a music that “says something about America and how it was settled.” (Alison Brown) With footage shot in 10 states, 4 festivals, and with 75 musicians, it is a kaleidoscope of color and sound. Focusing on the banjo, the fiddle, the guitar, the upright bass, and the dobro, this is a compelling 90 minute collection made for music lovers around the world.
