This week, we welcomed bluegrass pioneer Greg Cahill to Deering Live. After founding The Special Consensus in 1975, Greg has blazed a bright trail of banjo playing for over 45 years. He has served as Vice-Chair of the International Bluegrass Music Association, and a long-time teacher at the legendary Old Town School of Folk Music in his native Chicago.

Deering Live Shorts is a quick collection of our favorite highlights of each episode of Deering Live and over the course of an hour, we discussed all manner of topics with Greg. From his beginnings on the banjo, to the excitement of getting back on the road after what has been a turbulent year for many musicians.

During this episode, Greg is playing his beloved Deering Julia Belle banjo, which was introduced to him by its creator and fellow Deering artist, Alison Brown. Find out more about this banjo here!
