This week on Deering Live we feature 4 time Grammy Award winner David Holt. David is a musician, storyteller, artist, historian and radio and television host. For more than forty years, he has collected and performed the songs and stories of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He learned this treasure trove of music directly from musical greats including Doc Watson, Roy Acuff, Tommy Jarrell, Etta Baker and Grandpa Jones.
We will be talking about the history of clawhammer and old time music, demonstrating some different styles, and stories from the road from his years playing with Doc Watson, Grandpa Jones, and more.
